Spencer And The Tornado

from Fix Your Hearts EP by Fix Your Hearts

/

about

I wrote this song as a father's day present after my family dog passed away. I had a dream that he had saved the whole town from a tornado and woke up with the beginnings of this song rattling around in my head. This song is my crude attempt at thanking my sweet boy for the years of loyalty and friendship that i will never forget. Sounds silly, but i hope he is proud.

We don't deserve dogs, hence the proceeds of this EP going The Animal Welfare League of Arlington, Virginia.

lyrics

Spencie Dog was in the backyard as the winds began to blow
Sneaking out through a gated fence he knew exactly where to go
His human masters didn't have a clue as to what was going on
This would be his last adventure and his first since Oregon

Spencer And The Tornado

Spencie Dog was starting his approach as the ground began to shake
He reared his head and took a deep breath because he knew what was at stake
Longing for his window seat, the mailman, and a toy
It must be hard to go through life being such a good boy

Spencer And The Tornado

Spencer headed home hungry and weary
Found his bed, found his bowl, saved his whole family
Lived out life as all heroes do when they're done adventuring
When they're done adventuring, when they're done adventuring
As heroes do when they're done adventuring
